Physical Needs
Basic physical needs of a newborn are food, shelter, and clothing. Routine feeding and sleeping schedules will teach the child good habits as he/she develops. Providing adequate food, shelter, and clothing may develop an attachment. This attachment provides a sense that the child feels loved and can trust.
Emotional Well-Being
The parents meet the child's need for emotional wellbeing by interacting with their child. Parents give the child stimulation and attention. As the child grows, the parent finds new ways of interacting with their child to reinforce positive self-concept.
Socialization
This is the process in which a person learns the acceptable ways of behaving so he/she can function in society. Family is the foundation for learning ways and values in society. Parents meet these needs by interacting, dicipline, and being a good role model. Parents who have developed a close, emotional relationship with their child established a sense of trust with their son/daughter. After the child feels secure in a family environment, he/she will be able to develop relationships with others in society.
